Moving in Amagansett
Amagansett sits just east of East Hampton, the last real village before the open stretch of Napeague runs out to Montauk. It has a compact, walkable Main Street, the historic homes around the village green, the beachy lanes toward the ocean off Bluff Road and Indian Wells, and the wooded and dune-edge properties spreading north and south. It is quieter and a touch more bohemian than its neighbor to the west, but the moves carry the same East End mix of village access and oceanfront estates.
Down toward the beach, the lanes off Bluff Road and Atlantic Avenue narrow as they near the dunes, and the oceanfront houses bring sandy access, exterior stairs, and the salt air that is hard on furniture. We bring the truck that suits the lane and wrap pieces against spray and sand. Up in the village and on the historic streets, the homes are older and the doorways tighter, so we measure first, take doors off hinges when needed, and protect the floors and stairs.
COIs and Seasonal Timing
Some of the gated and association-managed oceanfront properties require a Certificate of Insurance before move day, and our office clears it in advance. We also plan around the summer crush, when the single highway through Amagansett toward Montauk slows to a crawl on beach days — we load and roll before the worst of it.
Crating and Off-Season Storage
We crate the fragile pieces — art, mirrors, glass, the occasional piano — inventory in writing, and move them ourselves. For the many second homes here, we move the contents into climate-controlled storage after the season and bring them back in spring.
